What is an L and M motorcycle classification?
Class L: Any motor-driven cycle with less than 150cc engine displacement.
Class M: Any motorcycle or motor-driven cycle.
Are motorcyclists required to take a state sponsored motorcycle safety course before they obtain their motorcycle endorsement?
No. If a licensee is 18 years of age or older, no motorcycle safety course is required. If the licensee is 16 or 17 years of age and wants an "L" endorsement, no motorcycle safety course is required. However, if a licensee is 16 or 17 years of age and wants an "M" endorsement, a motorcycle safety course IS required.
What if a person is 16 or 17 years of age?
Graduates of the Cycle Rider Safety Training Program who are 16 or 17 years old must also take driving and written tests to complete the licensing procedure at a Secretary of States Driving Facility.
How long can a completion card be used as a license waiver?
Completion cards are valid for one year from the date on the front of the card.
